Danda is the sanskrit word for stick. In danda dhauti, soft stick is use to clean upper intestinal tract up to the stomach. This stick is usually the stem of a banana or lotus. Nowadays people use rubber catheter for danda dhouti.

Perform some warm up exercises and later perform Tadasana, Tiryaka Tadasana, Kati Chakrasana, Tiryaka Bhujangasana and Udarakarshanasana. Do not waste much time in between asana.
After exercise go to the toilet and empty stomach. This is the one round.
Gradually increase the water intake, perform same asana repeatedly.
When one feel to go toilet, do not ignore. One may need to go toilet about 7-8 times.
At first solid stool then mixture of stool and water will be evacuated. As the practice progresses more water and less solid stool will be excreted. Eventually cloudy yellow water and, finally, almost clear water will be evacuated.
Stop process when clear water is evacuated. Passing clear water is an indication that your stomach and digestive tract have been cleanse
While standing bend waist and knee slightly forward, rest hands on knees. The back and arms should be straight and the head should be upright.
Now, inhale deeply through the nose and exhale fully through the mouth. holding breath in this position, relax abdominal muscles, draw the navel inwards and upwards back to the spine and begin to snap the abdomen backwards and forwards 10-15 times holding the breath.
Now take a slow breath. This is one round.
In beginning complete 3 rounds and increase round as per capacity.
Beginners may lose control of the abdominal muscles and are unable to coordinate the flapping movement.
