Trataka (Eye Exercises)

Trataka is a practice of focusing the eyes to a point without blinking until the eyes become wet and cleansed. Trataka is three type depending on the point or object on which performer focus the eyes.

  • Bahya Tratak (external tratak)- in this type eyes are focus on object like moon, star, which is away from body. This type of tratak is good for vatpradhan performer.
  • Madhya Tratak (external tratak)- in this type eyes are focus on object like flame, god’s statue or photo. This type of tratak is good for vatpradhan performer.
  • Abhyantar Tratak (external tratak)- in this type eyes are focus on the eyebrow, tip of the nose..
  • Sit in meditation pose (padmasana, vajrasana or sukhasana)
  • Focusing the eyes to a point, without blinking until the eyes become wet and cleansed.
  • Close the eyes and let them rest.
  • Repeat the practice 3 times. Slowly try to increase the time of focusing point.
  • Wash eyes by cold water after tratak.
  • Tratak help to resolve eye disease, strengthens the eye muscles and improves vision.
  • It improves concentration, confidence, memory. Develops intuition.
  • It decreases lethargy, sleeping difficulties and bedwetting.
  • Psychic problems.
  • Acute ophthalmic disease.
